Guthrie Healthcare System, a community-based, not-for-profit health care system, is the parent corporation of Robert Packer Hospital, Troy Community Hospital, and long-term care entities Guthrie Home Care, Guthrie Hospice, and Sayre House Nursing Home. Robert Packer Hospital is a 238-bed tertiary care teaching hospital in Sayre, PA. This modern facility offers traditional and minimally invasive open heart surgery, electrophysiology, invasive and interventional cardiology; advanced, minimally invasive and laser surgery; comprehensive cancer care, and corneal transplants. Guthrie's long-term care division provides a continuum of health care services, including skilled nursing, respite care, home care, hospice care, personal emergency response system and ventilator management. In 1999, Corning Hospital in Corning, New York, affiliated with Guthrie Healthcare System. In December of 2004, Corning Hospital became a permanent member of the health care system.
 

The Research and Education Division of Guthrie Healthcare System includes the Guthrie Foundation for Education and Research, the William C. Beck, MD, Health Science Library and Resource Center, the Mansfield University/Robert Packer Department of Health Sciences -- Nursing Program, the Radiology Technology Associate Degree Program and the Respiratory Therapy Associate Degree Program. These education programs are all co-sponsored by Mansfield University. Other educational programs include the Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science Program, and the Medical Education Department

The Guthrie Foundation includes the Guthrie Research Institute, and the Clinical Research Department. The Research Institute supports two independent laboratories directed by principal investigators who conduct basic science research in cell communication and signal transduction processes. The Clinical Research Department supports a wide spectrum of patient-oriented research, including drug company-sponsored clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies. 

The Guthrie/Robert Packer Hospital Medical Education Department offers residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine and general surgery, as well as a research-track residency program in internal medicine for physicians. Medical student training is provided for students from affiliated medical schools (SUNY Upstate Medical University, Drexel Medical College, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Jefferson). Medical Education also offers Continuing Medical Education courses, sponsors Medical Grand Rounds each week, and supports the Guthrie Scholars Program, which offers early acceptance to medical school for exceptional students from surrounding communities.

Guthrie Clinic is a multi-specialty group practice of more than 229 physicians and 90 mid-level providers. With its headquarters in a large medical office complex adjacent to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, the Clinic’s regional office network encompasses subspecialty and primary sites in 23 communities throughout Pennsylvania and New York. Guthrie Clinic’s primary care network encompasses all of the major population centers in the Twin Tiers and provides easy and convenient access to the best medical care available in the region.
